The Living Cookbook application will provide answers to a variety of questions, such as “What should I eat tonight?” or “How many calories are in that?” You see, this is an application that you can use to create and manage a database of recipes, calculate and view nutrition info, plan out meals and grocery shopping trips, and even surf the web to find new and interesting recipes.

The system requirements your PC needs in order to run Living Cookbook are quite low: 100MB of free disk space, at least 128MB of RAM, a 32 or 64-bit Windows edition (anything from Windows 7 down to Windows 98). The installation process is a standard one: download an executable, run it, click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard.

There’s nothing hard to figure out about Living Cookbook’s interface. On its Home page it presents links to all the functionality it has to offer, all nicely grouped into categories: Recipe, Ingredient, Calendar, Shopping, Help. Click on these buttons to see a list of recipes, to search for ingredients, to create a meal plan, and more.

To help you get started, Living Cookbook comes with an ample database that includes recipes, ingredients, a sample menu and a sample grocery list, a detailed glossary, and links to a bunch of websites that you may find useful. Click through this sample database to get a clearer picture of what you can do with Living Cookbook. You can use the application to create and store recipes, to create and store info on ingredients, to create meals and meal plans, to create grocery lists, view a list of glossary terms and cooking techniques, and surf the web for nutritional info and for recipes.

You have 30 days at your disposal to evaluate the functionality Living Cookbook has to offer and decide if it is worth your money.

It is a pleasure to work with Living Cookbook and manage an ever increasing collection of recipes.

Pros

The system requirements for running Living Cookbook are quite low. The application comes with a good looking and easy to use interface. The sample database has an ample collection of recipes, ingredients, and more.

Cons

Free to use for a 30-day evaluation period.
